We recognise that some people within Glasgow need more support
to get active.
We have a wide range of sport and physical activity programmes which
are designed for adults and young people with a range of disabilities.
These programmes are school based, or in our Leisure Centres or in
various Community venues. Led by highly qualifed staff, these range
from Multi-Sport Clubs for young people, Holiday Sport Programmes,
Learn To Swim, Wheelchair Tennis and Basketball and a wide range of
activity sessions for adults.
We also run a number of Events such as the popular Superday for young
people and Junior Sports festivals/events.
We work closely with black and minority ethnic communities in Glasgow
to ensure that appropriate, accessible sports provision is available
for young and old. We work extensively in schools, multi-cultural
centres and leisure facilites to provide - for example - keep fit,
Kabbadi, cricket, swimming and many more sports programmes for young
people. We also have holiday programmes for school aged children
during school holidays (mainly summer and easter) – and work
closely with a range of community organisations and other agencies
such to ensure sport is more available across all communities.
We support community and national-level events such as the SEMSA
Football Championships; Sighthill Festival, Todays Scotland badminton
event, Glasgow ANSAR football and cricket tournaments and
other events which provide a profile for black and minority communities.
