Hockey is primarily a club-based sport and Glasgow boasts one of the biggest names in European hockey, Nicoline Western Ladies, who have won the Scottish National League on no less than 21 occasions.

The development of the sport in the city has seen the establishment of various programmes throughout Glasgow designed for all ages and abilities including:
